The conference theme “Lungs under the microscope” delves into the intricate landscape of pulmonary science, revealing the lung’s complexities at all levels from cellular and molecular through to daily functioning. The theme explores research ranging from the precision of nanoparticle drug delivery, cutting-edge imaging technologies and fundamental studies of lung structure and function through to clinical application of discoveries that support improved respiratory health. By bringing together diverse disciplines, including clinicians, allied health professionals, basic science and population health researchers, this theme offers a magnified view of the lungs’ inner workings, fostering innovation in diagnostics, therapeutics, and the translation of innovation into tangible improvements for respiratory health.

This theme will explore lung health across the lifespan, examining how lung function changes in response to ageing, environment, and respiratory disease.
